Beginning Quiltmaking I

If you’re a confident sewist who’s dreamed of making quilts, here’s your chance to join other creative sewists in Beginning Quiltmaking I.

During this four-class session (with optional fifth class) you will learn:

• quiltmaking terminology

• fabric, batting, and thread selection

• proper use of quilter’s rulers and mats

• safe use of a rotary cutter

• quilt block assembly

• pressing and trimming

• how to “sandwich,” quilt, and bind a modern table runner for autumn, Christmas, or whatever season you choose

Start with the essentials and build your quilting skills quickly. Enjoy individualized, focused instruction from an experienced quilt instructor in a small class of learners who share your interest in the art of quiltmaking. (Homework may be required, dependent upon individual in-class progress.)

Prerequisite

Introduction to the Sewing Machine and/or Beginning Sewing or proven sewing skills (based on instructor’s review), including proper use of the sewing machine, basic sewing terminology, pattern reading, and stitching with consistent seam allowances.

For adults and students age 16+.

(with an optional one-class extension, Oct. 8)
Thursday mornings, 9:30 to Noon

Cost

• $130 for four classes

• $30 for optional one-class extension

• Dancing Squares – a modern table runner or wall hanging using charm squares and/or small yardages.
• Quilt kits available for purchase in the studio for students who are uncomfortable purchasing fabric before the start of the session.
